Making Curry Puffs

LYFF children love kuih and we have decided to make ourselves some delicious curry puffs one morning. All the ingredients were provided and ready at the center. The ingredients needed are simple like potatoes, curry leaves, curry powder, wheat flour, margarine, garlic and shallots.

 

The first step was to peel the potato skins and cut them into cubes. After the potatoes are cut, the task of cooking the potatoes is handed over to the center’s cook to cook the potato filling. While the potato is being cooked, the children used the flour to make the dough for the curry puffs pastries. Wheat flour mixed with margarine, a little salt and cold water then kneaded into a soft dough. Once the dough is soft and the potato filling cooked, the next process is to insert the potato filling into the pastry. 

This last step was the most exciting part for the children as they got to enjoy their hand-made dish soon. Again, the cook assisted to fry the ready-made curry puffs

They enjoyed the curry puffs  after they finished their play time and felt very happy. They can’t wait to try cooking again in the future.
