Nutritious Lunch and Tuition Program: 2012 Chinese New Year Visitation and Follow Up

After running the Nutritious Lunch and Tuition Program for a year and a half, the results were extremely positive as the children were gaining good weight and their grades have improved. With the children showing good improvement, these has also attracted the school’s attention allowing us to work closely with the school on taking care these children and also being approached to help more children!

The program has also helped the people in the community like the cook and her helpers by having a sense of responsibilities and ownership to ensure the children who join this program are prompt, doing house visitation if the child fails to attend the program and collating results every month. This program has also taught them on monthly expenses and weekly menu planning.

This year around in 2012, the number of children Little Yellow Flower is funding for this program have also increased from 19 to 32 children and with the kind donation from a rice supplier, we are able to provide for more children and hopes to expand to other areas to help more children!

In conjunction to this year 2012 Chinese New Year Celebration, Sinje took some time off her busy schedule to visit the children and also community again to follow up and catch up with the children and community people, have lunch, spend some time with the program’s children, giving out the traditional Red Packet and goodie bags filled with biscuits and mandarin oranges to them! The children, community people and of course, Sinje enjoyed themselves throughout the visit!
