Ice-cream 4U Charity Concert 2009

Hope Education Foundation has recently arrived on Malaysia’s shore, working for “Ice-Cream 4U Charity Concert” to help raise funds for a Home for Disabled and Underprivileged Children Home. This is the very first time Malaysia’s Chinese artistes have joined forces in organizing a charity concert. The Foundation’s Ambassadors Sinje Lee and Valen Hsu together with singers Jet Yi, Fish Leong, Ah Niu and other special guests like Sandy Lam have performed in the concert.

The concert was held on 30th October 2009 in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia with a great amount of support from the local community. The response was tremendous and the concert was a huge success. T-shirts and ice-creams were sold on the day for fund raising.

This concert is a little different from other various artistes performance as the audiences are entertained with live band and crossover sessions. The crossover session is a very interesting part whereby a few good friends who have known each other for a long time gathered together to share a light moment and perform each other’s songs.

One of the most loved artistes in Hong Kong has taken some time off to help spread some love during the concert despite her busy schedule. She is none other than Sandy Lam whereby she performed one of her song alongside with Sinje, Fish and Jet.

The concert is derived from an idea of having an Ice-Cream treat for the children at the Home as Jet Yi and Lee Sinje believed that children enjoying the treat are in their most genuine manner. Sinje and Valen together with a few other artistes visited the Home the day after the concert, and most importantly, having an ice-cream treat for the children! Everyone enjoyed their time together.

The Home, (Pusat Penjagaan Kanak Kanak Cacat Taman Megah) is a home for the disabled and the underprivileged. There are about 100 children who are disabled with various disabilities such as Down syndrome, autism, cerebral palsy, global delay, muscular dystrophy, dwarfism, apeth syndrome, neunan syndrome, hyper activity, physical challenges, intellectual disabilities as well as speech, audio and visual impairments. There are some normal children who come from broken, abused or single parent backgrounds though.

The children are residing in different houses and this has caused difficulties for the administration and is not in the best interest of the residents. The Home intends to build a one- stop centre, fully equipped with necessary medical supplies, therapy rooms and library. The Home has currently raised RM 1.5 million for this project with RM 4 million left to be raised. Therefore, financial assistance is needed to remedy this pressing issue.
